In this process Albanian Chrome ACR foresees to train its employees while the director said that the owners will implement a new technology of ferrochrome production which will be more efficient and less energy consuming. The ferrochromium Plant of Elbasan was constructed on Nov.1989 and in a step by step process it was equipped with two furnaces. The third furnace was built only on 1993, but it operated only for one and a half month, stopping for the rest of the period. According to Gjonaj, the first furnace shall produce high carbon ferrochromium, while the second and the third furnace shall produce low carbon ferrochromium – highly demanded in the market. By 2009 Albanian chrome ACR aims to export ca. 50,000 tons of ferrochromium, of both high and low carbon quality. In its best days the plant of elbasan had a capacity of 30,000 tons of ferrochromium year. The owners of Albanian chrome ACR paid a visit to the facilities in order to strictly supervise the rehabilitation work being carried out at the Ferrochromium Plant in Elbasan. At the end of this visit they also met with the Minister of Economy, Trade and Energy, Genc Ruli. Albanian chrome ACR was founded in the year 2000, as the Albanian government gave a concession to an Italian company several industrial facilities such as the Bulqiza Mine, the ferrochromium melting plants in Burrel and Elbasan, etc. On May 2007, the Austrian company DCM DECOmetal and the Russian company Terwingo were awarded from METE the concession as the new owners DARFO Albania shpk. The new owners have initiated a series of investments in all the facilities being part of their concession contract. |
